This is "Istituto Liszt"
In April 1997 a new ISTITUTO LISZT was founded in
Bologna. The founders are: Rossana Dalmonte, the
Italian-Hungarian Association, the
Italian-French Association, the
Italian-Austrian Association, the
Italian-German Association and the Casa Ricordi. Prof.
Dalmonte, who have for long times made research on Liszt, is charged
with the direction of the Institut. The four Associations represent
the four countries loved by Liszt and where he lived. With Casa
Ricordi Liszt had very strict and friendly relations, and he
considere it as a symbol of Italy. The principal aim of
the ISTITUTO LISZT is to promote a better knowledge of Liszt’s works
both in the field of the musicological research and in that of the
interpretation. The first task consists of collecting
as much material as possible: scores, books and journal articles are
absolutely necessary for students and musicologists. Until now we
have collected 2500 titles and 1000 scores (the library has also
some first editions of Liszt's works). This means that we are the
richest library for Liszt in Italy, but it means also, that we must
keep collecting because the literature on Liszt is almost boundless.
Therefore donations of materials would be received gratefully. To
promote the musicological research, the Istituto publishes Quaderni
dell'Istituto Liszt - a musicological journal on Liszt's life and
work - and the series Rarità lisztiane, scores that offer to both
formers and scholars the opportunity to become acquainted with
Liszt's unknown works or works which are not available in accurate
modern editions. Every two years the Istituto announces Premio
Liszt: a musicological competition that offers 1000 euro for the
best research on Liszt. The second task consists of
offering to pianists the chance of playing a true lisztian
instrument, and of working out a pure lisztian sound. The Istituto
possesses a grand piano Steinway (1860) on the same model of piano
that one was donated in 1883 to Liszt. The piano has been
scientifically restored with the assistance of the Acoustic
Institute of the University of Bologna. The Istituto organizes a
musical season with programmes on Liszt's unknown works and
classical repertoire according to new interpretations.
The Istituto offers a guest-rooms, for brief
time, to artists and researchers who work on
Liszt. |
