Quaderni of Istituto
Liszt
|
 |

The two main aims of the association “Istituto Liszt” are
the study of Liszt's personality and work and the propagation of a
performance praxis consistent with the different styles and types of
his artistic production. To reach the first goal two publication
series have been founded: Quaderni dell'Istituto Liszt and
Liszt
Rarities. For the second aim special concerts are
organized during the winter season, in which artists of
international renown play very rarely performed pieces on a Steinway gran coda
1860.
Unlike other Lisztian periodic publications, such as the
Journal of the American Liszt Society, the
British Liszt Society Journal, and the Journal of
Dutch Franz Liszt Kring, the Quaderni dell'Istituto
Liszt is an irregularly issued publication devoted to Liszt's
personality and work, sometimes in the form of collected articles,
sometimes in that of a monograph. Its main theme is the presentation
of unpublished documents: letters, music sketches, memories of Liszt
or of people who contributed to the definition of his poetics or who
belonged to his circle. Some articles are devoted to the analysis of
Liszt's works according to the more recent methods of systematic
musicological criticism.
The Quaderni dell'Istituto Liszt, whose first
issue was published by Ricordi, are now published by Rugginenti –
Milan.
The editorial plan contemplates miscellaneous and
monograph numbers. The volume 3 is a revision of Liszt's catalogue
of the works edited by Michael Short and Leslie Howard.
